mommy updated our flickr album with all the photos from our trip to the city.

enjoy!

today i had to go get a special five-month checkup. the doctor wanted to see if my starting solid foods would get my weight-gain back on the trajectory i was on since i was born. (my weight gain dipped between two and four months.)

and long story short, i am back on track.

i weigh 17 lbs, having gained a little over two pounds in the last month.

so what did i do when i got home this afternoon? i ate a humongous meal: two ounces of cereal, three ounces of formula, half an ounce each of bananas and sweet potatoes, and TWO OUNCES (!!!) of carrots! i was hungry!

now i’m chillin’ with dad, watching holmes on homes and waiting for basketball to start …

later gators!

so daddy went to the doctor yesterday for a cholesterol test, and he totally kicked major butt!

the doctor already had the results this morning, and daddy lowered his cholesterol by about 15% … 32 points, to be exact … how did he do it?! well, those endless admonishments to eat low-fat, high-fiber, non-processed foods are apparently right … mommy and daddy have pretty much eliminated the crap (especially the eating out). they have cut down on their meat intake, and as they have written in past posts … mommy has stopped cooking with butter and bacon fat … daddy also dutifully takes omega-3 and nature made’s cholest-off, both of which — mommy is choosing to believe — have helped him.

so what did mommy and daddy do to celebrate daddy’s recently vetted healthiness? they had greasy, cheesy pizza with pepperoni and peppers, of course!

ahhhh, the irony.

p.s. mommy is ridiculously lucky … her cholesterol has always been low, even with all she has ingested in her life … and she has fabulously high HDL … AND she has been taking omega-3 supplements since she found out she was preggo with yours truly and while she was nursing me … omega-3 is supposed to help me be smart!

that wasn’t on my face today.

i recently decided to make mealtime an opportunity to incorporate my love of performance art with my ever-increasing physical prowess. i like bringing an element of surprise to the table, figuratively and literally, keeping mommy and daddy on their toes.

speaking of toes … i really, really love mine. i love pulling on them, talking to them, sucking on them …

toes

the last two days have been chockfull of excitement and adventure. i’m out of my pea period food-wise, having moved on to butternut squash. it is really yummy. yesterday, too, i took my first bath without the special tub sling to hold me. i am big enough now not to need that extra protection in my blue duckie tub. AND last night was the first night i slept in MY crib in MY room all by MYself. before, i slept in my bassinet in mommy and daddy’s room, but just as i am big enough to use my bathtub like a big boy, i am also too big for my bassinet. i slept through the night with nary a peep. what can i say? i’m a total pro.

today, mommy watched naomi while miss megan ran an errand. we went next door to naomi’s house so she could swing on her swing set. i have never seen anything as glorious in my whole life as a swing set. i CANNOT wait until i can swing and climb and slide. later we came back to our house, and i sat in my highchair while naomi sang and danced and talked around me. i really like naomi. she is very nice to me and a lot of fun. i am totally entranced by her!

but as entranced as i might have been, i did get overloaded. after miss megan picked up naomi, i had a super-concentrated meltdown that ended abruptly when i fell dead asleep on mommy’s shoulder.

adventure is tiring!

today is grandpa jer’s birthday. like grandma maryann says, he is OFFICIALLY an old man today. all that aarp stuff he’s been getting for the last twenty years is now totally age appropriate.

mommy and i went to the post office a couple of days ago to send his birthday present along with a card from yours truly. we also sent to them and to grandma linda and grandpa chuck and to great-grandma oma a funky picture of me that mommy took awhile back. here they are:

everyone should get their box either today or tomorrow. if not, then they should let mommy know so she can raise hell. she likes to do that.

today i went to the pediatrician’s office for my four-month checkup. i did really well, even though i cried when i got my immunization shots.

the doctor says my mommy and daddy are doing a good job raising me, which my mommy was glad to hear, even though she is always and forever waiting for the other shoe to drop.

i am off the charts height-wise. i am 27 inches long, and i weigh 14 pounds, 13 ounces.

the doctor expected me to be a little bit heavier, so he said i am ready for solid foods. mommy and i went to the grocery store after seeing the doctor and bought some rice cereal. mommy is going to start feeding me a couple of tablespoons of cereal twice a day.

other things that the doctor said is that i am really social and that just looking at me, he can tell that i am really healthy.

i’m a little bit sleepy and achy from my shots, so mommy gave me some baby tylenol, and i am going to snooze for awhile. it’s my bedtime soon anyway.

so to all my fans out there: i love you!

i’ve been trying to watch what i eat, etc. in what i anticipated would be a futile attempt to lose weight …

not the baby weight, mind you. that came off within six weeks of poppin’ out the kid …

this is the weight i put on in los angeles, just before moving to poughkeepsie … 20 lbs of it, to be exact … it’s been coming off, slowly … largely because i have (begrudgingly) stopped cooking with things like entire sticks of butter, cartons of heavy cream, and oh-so-glorious bacon grease … all of which make for fantastic eats …

well, i got on the scale today and … drumroll, please …

i can kiss ten!!! … (10!!!) … T-E-N!!! … pounds goodbye!

only 10 more to go … and i will be back to my textbook/ideal/whatever weight … woo-hoo!!!

today is february 24, 2008, and i am four-months old. considering my fast-paced life, i met with my team of developers, assistants, and caretakers and determined that the best way for me to relay to my multitudes of fans all of the many happenings of my life was to create a blog.

and so it goes: didionville is born.

enjoy. peruse. comment. debate. talk amongst yourselves. take a nap. love life.
