adventure

that wasn’t on my face today.

i recently decided to make mealtime an opportunity to incorporate my love of performance art with my ever-increasing physical prowess. i like bringing an element of surprise to the table, figuratively and literally, keeping mommy and daddy on their toes.

speaking of toes … i really, really love mine. i love pulling on them, talking to them, sucking on them …

toes

the last two days have been chockfull of excitement and adventure. i’m out of my pea period food-wise, having moved on to butternut squash. it is really yummy. yesterday, too, i took my first bath without the special tub sling to hold me. i am big enough now not to need that extra protection in my blue duckie tub. AND last night was the first night i slept in MY crib in MY room all by MYself. before, i slept in my bassinet in mommy and daddy’s room, but just as i am big enough to use my bathtub like a big boy, i am also too big for my bassinet. i slept through the night with nary a peep. what can i say? i’m a total pro.

today, mommy watched naomi while miss megan ran an errand. we went next door to naomi’s house so she could swing on her swing set. i have never seen anything as glorious in my whole life as a swing set. i CANNOT wait until i can swing and climb and slide. later we came back to our house, and i sat in my highchair while naomi sang and danced and talked around me. i really like naomi. she is very nice to me and a lot of fun. i am totally entranced by her!

but as entranced as i might have been, i did get overloaded. after miss megan picked up naomi, i had a super-concentrated meltdown that ended abruptly when i fell dead asleep on mommy’s shoulder.

adventure is tiring!

blech!mommy and daddy are expanding my food repertoire, and lucky me! they chose to do it with peas …

yes, they are mushy and pasty … boiled and pureed … many people might not think any of these words are very appetizing, but surprise, surprise … i actually ate them.

mommy and daddy gave me a big, heaping teaspoon of peas along with my two tablespoons of banana/rice cereal, and i ate every last bite.

phttth!

necessarily, i slipped into a food coma shortly after. there might be something with the highchair. compare me with my lovely cousin annika at thanksgiving:

just a reminder: don’t forget to check our flickr page for photo set updates!

snowsuit22.jpgtonight it is supposed to snow …

not much, just an inch or so, but the impending storm reminded me that i hadn’t shown my fans photos of me in my snowsuit. i wore it last friday when we got a mega storm that dumped over eight inches.

mommy went out three different times to shovel the driveway, the deck, and the sidewalks. miss megan (next door) watched me while mommy slaved.

you don’t have to tell me. i know i’m cute.

this is the first time i am sitting in my highchair. i kinda dig it. i’m not so sure about the taste of rice cereal, but i’m a team player and will humor mommy and daddy.

today was very exciting. daddy’s department had a potluck luncheon, and mommy and i got to go! mommy made a yummy spinach lasagna, and we took it to daddy’s work this afternoon so that it would be warm.

i have to admit, i was pretty spectacular during the whole thing. everyone was so impressed with how chill i am. well, it’s easy because that’s what i do: i chill, letting people bathe in the oodles of fabulosity that pour forth.

there was some discussion among daddy and his work friends of having me take a ride in the “foup”, which is the assembly line that moves the microchip wafers from one manufacturing machine to the next. frankly, i think it sounds cool. maybe next time.

first poughkeepsie … then the ibm hudson valley research facility … my efforts toward total world domination continue.

guess what?! i like bananas! huh, who knew?

this is my very first experience with solid food. up ’til now, i’ve just been getting tastes from mommy’s milk … do i need to remind everyone of the great jalapeno crisis ‘07 … hmmmm …

(this is my longest film to date: upwards of five minutes … consider yourself warned.)

so i’m not ashamed to admit it: i’m ticklish. my mom and dad sure do get a kick out of that little fact.

this is my first time in the bathtub … no more sponge baths for this guy! at best, i am ambivalent about the whole hygiene thing. i like how it feels to be clean, but i sure don’t like the trip getting there.
