just a few of things i should mention …

this morning i crawled about four feet, from mommy to daddy, on their bed. i wasn’t dragging myself or squirming forward … i was CRAWLING … using my knees and arms … my head was still down, but that is a minor detail … the big coordination conundrum is solved … i am just glad both mommy AND daddy got to see my developmental feat.

i have also discovered that being willful is a whole lotta fun! i am really enjoying stopping my meals midway through so that i can give mommy or daddy my most skeptical sideways glance and close my mouth tighter than fort knox. it’s funny how they debase themselves in an effort to negotiate cooperation from me. i wholeheartedly feel i am onto something here, that i have before me great, unadulterated power that — if i am smart — i can harness and use to enormous personal benefit.

but even though i am toying with mommy and daddy during meals, i am also eating my bodyweight in foodstuff. i might be heading toward a big ol’ growth spurt …

oh, and mommy and i got (grand)father’s day goodies into the mail this afternoon. ironically, we were so late getting them out, they will actually get to grandpas jer and chuck early … as in tomorrow! you see, we lost a production day due to the paralyzing and stifling heat on tuesday, and when you get the boxes, you will see that there was quite a bit of production involved …

enough on that … i need to have my wet diaper changed, and i need mommy to bounce me up and down for awhile.

yesterday was bailey marie’s FOURTH birthday! woo-hoo! bailey is big sister to ryan and brooke (who is 2 1/2). we hope you had a fantastic day, bailey, and got lots of goodies to play with and lots of hugs from your mommy and daddy!

it’s eleven in the morning, and already it’s in the mid 80s. it’s early yet, but i think i might have inherited a true distaste for hot weather from mommy. maximizing my discomfort are my TWO lower teeth. everyday they poke out a little more, and boy, has the second one made up for lost time. it is almost as far up as the one that’s been in the works for the last couple of months. i feel pretty beat down, kinda like roger federer. (i was grumpy and uncomfortable, but not so grumpy and uncomfortable to watch sports. nadal just annihilated federer in three straight. that nadal is something else. he’s only 22, and he’s won four-straight french open championships. by the way, john mcenroe and bjorn borg are aging very well; at least, that’s what mommy says.)

back to my distress: i really needed mommy to hold me for awhile to help me feel better. i just wish my mommy and daddy didn’t feel the need to document my EVERY up and down. what, am i like a first-born child or something? oh, yeh, i am.

(mcenroe and borg are talking to each other on the court right now, giving post-op analysis. tennis is fun to watch, but according to mommy, it was ESPECIALLY fun to watch in the late 70s and through the 80s. ha! mcenroe just told borg how great he looks! mommy loves it when she is vindicated and validated and, well, proven right.)

boy, is it hot. today it is in the mid 90s; tomorrow, more of the same, and monday it’s supposed to be close to 100 degrees. yikes! i haven’t been this warm since i was cooking in mommy’s belly.

but hot weather has a definite upside: ice cream!

don’t worry … i’m not loading up on junk. i’m just expanding my palate. today i’ve had broccoli and cauliflower and garbanzo beans and carrots … i’m a bouncing, drooling crudite … who just happens to sneak in a little ice cream every now and then …

today is my cousin will’s birthday! he’s lefthanded and loves ketchup just like mommy. he is also a switch-hitting pitcher on his little league team, which is pretty darn cool. i hope you have a great day, will!

i just ate an entire avocado. i eat anything mommy and daddy give me. i like adventure, and i like good food even more! i’m also studlier than mommy. she refused to eat avocados when she was little.

naomi turned five-years-old a couple of days ago, and today was her birthday party. mommy and daddy took me.

appropriately, “princess” was the party theme, and all of the little girls seemed very happy to play, discuss, and ponder all things pink … and frilly … and, well, princess-y. naomi, though, didn’t want me to feel left out, so she made me my own crown.

the girls played “pin the crown on the princess”. mommy helped miss megan by making the crowns and the princess at our house a couple of days ago. i must admit, i was very good while mommy worked on the princess. in fact, i am quite adept at supervising.

mommy also made a new dish. she calls it “bar-b-que-chicken-pizza-pasta-salad.” she says it’s essentially bbq-chicken pizza, just without the crust and with pasta. the mommies seemed to like it. she will post the recipe soon.

grandma linda sent me a quilt she made just for me! it is soooooo cool. here’s the front …

and the back (mommy LOVES the funky fabric!) …

here is a special note from grandma just for me …

and some more details from the quilt …

so in the last week or so, i have been doin’ some really grown up things. you already know i take baths in the real bathtub …

but i am also holding my bottle all by myself when i drink milk. (i also use a sippy cup for water throughout the day.)

and i am also riding in my stroller without my car seat. i really dig facing forward and checking out all the action …

here are some photos from mother’s day. my staff has been a little slow getting media updates on track.

photos of the flowers grandma maryann and grandpa jer got for mommy:

a gerber daisy and splash of color from the arrangement …

and the mystery blue flowers mommy loves but can’t identify …

izzie laid on mommy for awhile; after all, she’s his mommy, too …

while i poked daddy in his eye …

finally, mommy took one of her artsy-fartsy pics of me …
