yesterday was auntie buffy’s birthday. unfortunately, i was being held hostage by a category-400 migraine and could not offer more timely birthday wishes. no one should be surprised, considering i missed darling brooke’s (3rd) birthday in december, too.

today is steven’s birthday! woot! it is on the tail end of a three-day birthday bonanza …
there are other january birthdays … mine is the 14th, and uncle val’s b-day is the 19th … there is another birthday coming up on the 29th, but i will save the announcement for then … suffice it to say, she knows who she is …

here are some pics from our trip to california. it was great to see my sister’s kids and to have didion meet his cousins and get to spend good times with them and his grandparents and great grandma …

we went to calif0rnia for three glorious weeks in december. we spent christmas, new year’s, and then some … watching football, seeing many, many, many friends, hanging with awesome family, eating, sleeping, and being sick with colds and sinus infections (for the first part of the trip) … it was awesome.

recuperating with mommy. (our colds were bad for awhile. we had to go to the doctor!)
mommy made a really yummy christmas dinner … with PRIME RIB!
she also made lots of other dinners, too, including enchiladas and more black beans!
we also got to see michael and auntie loretta …
and we saw many more of my aunties: leslie, lisa, lawanda, ceci. my dance card was quite full!

we’ve been swamped over the last couple of months … traveling, shoveling snow, being sick. plus my writing for ames’ candid world takes a chunk outta each day, but know we are still kickin’ and having a terrific time. d-man is talking … he has about six words and four animal sounds (duck, cow, snake, lion). he is growing like a weed (his feet are the size of the average 27-month-old!); we get his 15-month checkup next week, and i am curious to see where he’s at.
in the meantime, let’s bring everyone up to date …
back in early december (december 10th), d-man got his first haircut. as expected, he was a total champ.
he also confirmed he is a bean man … black beans to be exact …
then there was the trip to california …
