if i do say so myself, i’ve been participating in some really interesting dialog today over at ames’ and progressive conservative’s sites …
mccain and evangelicals at a candid world …
mccain and evangelicals at the big stick …
kittens and slippery slopes at a candid world …
i enjoy being able to share ideas with peeps i otherwise would never have a chance to connect with, but i am a little bummed … i am 99.9% sure i am the only woman who regularly comments on either of these sites. i think it is unfortunate … a little weird … and quite lonely. though, this is NOT an entreaty to my g-friends to participate … in fact, if not for d-man’s naps, i suppose i wouldn’t have time to read blogs anyway.
o.k. … enough whining.
steven, d-man, and i went to a bbq on sunday afternoon. the host has many hobbies, one of which is brewing his own beer. steven and i were quite impressed with one of his wheat varieties and intrigued by the possibilities … anyway, our friend loaned us a primer. steven is reading it right now while i am writing this post. (it seems as easy as it is involved — if that makes sense, but we aren’t totally put off … yet.)
we are watching a rebroadcast of an 1976 alcs game between the royals and the yankees. even in rerun, american league (especially yankee!) games are long. this one is scheduled to last four hours (!!!), but it is cool to hear howard cosell and reggie jackson and to see the super low-tech graphics.
tonight we had to make a run to dq … i drank all of my milkshake on the way home, and, of course, as soon as we turned onto our street, i was complaining about how i wished i still had some shake left …

Get back over here and finish up!

ha! naptime has been a monumental negotiation today, which is saying something, considering one party can’t speak … but i think we JUST NOW reached detente … i’ll be over momentarily …

oops … and i’ll be logged in correctly when i get there …

Those debates seem to have slowed down. It’s weird, I’m used to chatboard wars that go on for weeks. Blog comment ‘debates’ seem to only have a lifespan of a day or two. I finally replied to that abortion discussion if you’re interested.
We’re still buddies!

ha! of course we are! i never doubted it!
i’ve never been on a political chatboard. i suspect there is a lot of flaming. if people can be total asses to each other when they are talking about movies and comic books, i can only imagine what political forums look like.
i think the blog debates are limited in duration, in part, because of the design of the page. it’s too much trouble to hit “next page” or search the archives … easier just to read the newest post …
though, i have to say i made a mad search through your stuff looking for the comment regarding the evangelical vote. admittedly, though, that “mad search” lasted about five minutes.
cheers!

Four year veteran of the chatboard wars here. Oh the things I’ve seen. I think I actually have an internet-induced case of PTSD. Yes, it’s HORRIBLE out there. I regret ever being sucked in. People are unbelievably nasty and board admins behave like dictators.
I have found blogging to be infinitely better.
You’ll never find that comment! (and I swear I didn’t go back and delete it – it just never happened.)
